Passive House in the Woods

Our client decided to fulfill a long-held dream of living in a passive house deep in the woods. We helped designed a house that meets strict Passive House guidelines while providing a comfortable, light-filled living environment with no wasted space. Nestled amongst trees, this cozy and inviting house has no furnace or air conditioner.
Managed with an iPhone, a computer “brain” embedded into the roof collects solar energy, heats and cools the house, maintains air quality, controls energy usage, and even sells excess electricity back to the local energy company. From spring through fall, our client even grows his own food on his rooftop garden!
This project was the fifth certified passive house in the United States.
